Empowering individuals affected by crisis by providing compassionate support, resources, and advocacy to help them rebuild their lives with safety, dignity, and strength.

Mandate

The Chestermere Women’s Crisis Society (CWCS) is committed to supporting women and families in crisis through holistic, wraparound services that address their immediate and long-term needs. Our mandate is to provide compassionate, trauma-informed support across a continuum of care—including access to basic needs, emergency accommodations, advocacy, legal and court support, housing assistance, and community navigation. We are dedicated to empowering individuals by meeting them where they are, walking alongside them, and helping them build resilience, safety, and stability through personalized, connected, and collaborative support.

– We work to raise awareness, challenge harmful narratives, and provide education on recognizing and preventing crisis.

6. Inclusivity & Accessibility
– We believe that everyone deserves access to support, regardless of background, identity, or circumstance.

Ways we help

Advocacy

Volunteer advocates meet clients ‘where they are at’ in terms of each individual client’s capacity to help themselves and move forward in their life. As such, advocates aid clients who may be overwhelmed and unable to navigate community and social systems independently. Advocates can connect clients to appropriate resources, services, and professional support to begin their healing journey and reduce barriers. As first point of contact, advocates provide crisis intervention and emotional support to clients who find themselves in states of crisis or vulnerability.

Community Navigation

We assist clients in navigating the complex system of services and resources, providing different levels of support based on the needs of the client. Using our internal database of resources and services, we provide clients with supported referrals, companion advocates, and mentors.

Domestic Violence Support

Involving partner organizations including the Chestermere RCMP, Southern Alberta Regional Victim Serving Society (SARVSS), and the City of Chestermere, we ensure women in Chestermere who are facing domestic violence situations are able to access immediate domestic violence intervention and support. We provide clients with the resources and services that can remove them from dangerous situations and ensure ongoing safety and support.

Essential Needs

We assist women in gaining access to both the needs of basic sustenance and the broad needs that lead to a healthy and thriving quality of life for vulnerable clients and their dependents. Volunteers work in the community to establish, build, and maintain relationships with community organizations, service providers, and policy makers to ensure that barriers to essential needs can be overcome and clients can gain access to services.

Choosing Safety, Finding Strength

She didn’t always recognize it as abuse.
It began with quiet criticism, small comments that made her doubt herself, long pauses of silence that felt like punishment.

Then came control — slowly at first.
Where she went.
Who she spoke to.
How much she could spend.
What she was “allowed” to feel.

Like so many, she kept hoping things would get better.
She kept explaining, trying harder, shrinking to keep the peace.

One evening, after a particularly frightening argument, she realized something —
strength isn’t always loud.
Sometimes, strength is a whisper inside you that says “this is not love.”

So she reached out.
Quietly. Carefully. Even nervously.
And she heard words she hadn’t heard in a long time:

“You’re not alone. You deserve safety. We will walk with you.”

With support, she created a safety plan.
She connected with resources, community, and care.
Step by step, she rebuilt her confidence.
Day by day, she remembered her worth.

Today, she is safe.
Healing. Growing. Reclaiming her life.

And now she says:

“I didn’t know where to start.
I just knew I couldn’t stay.
Reaching out didn’t make me weak —
it was the moment I became free.”

Her story is a reminder:

✨ Hope isn’t lost.
✨ Courage is quiet but powerful.
✨ Healing is possible — and you never have to walk it alone.

If you or someone you love needs support, we are here.
Always. 💛
